Armed bandits have raided two local government areas in Sokoto State, killing no fewer than 15 people and injuring others, while looting and destroying homes.
The attack on the councils – Goronyo and Illela – started late Sunday night and lasted till the early hours of Monday unchallenged.
The state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, confirmed the attack to the state assembly, while presenting the state’s 2022 draft budget on Monday.
Explaining further on the incident, Governor Tambuwal
said that 12 people were killed in Illela and three others lost their lives in Goronyo.
The governor, however, condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones to the attacks, and people of the affected communities.
But the Police are yet to make an official statement on the attack.
