Budget defence: C’ttee walks out  Bauchi education commissioner for disrespect


Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Education condemns poor attitude of education commissioner.

The Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Education has walked out the state Commissioner of Education,  Dr Aliyu Tilde, from budget defence  proceedings for disrespecting the committee’s integrity.

Alhaji Babayo Mohammmed Akuyam, the chairman of the House Committee on Education, disclosed this, while briefing journalists on Friday.

He said that the committee walked out the commissioner for disrespecting  and not recognizing the committee that means he disrespect the house of assembly.

Akuyam said that the commissioner was supposed to come at 10am but came one hour late, and was entertained despite keeping them waiting.

“We are trying to explain ourselves to him, but interfere and enquire who we are? We are legislative and another arm of government.

“Therefore, we ask him to go when he realizes we are something, he should come for the defense because we have eight days from today to end the budget defence proceedings.

“If he doesn’t come, the education sector would get 0 allocation in the 2022 budget,” he said.

According to him, even the governor and his executive have come before the House of Assembly for defence.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Education, Dr Tilde, declined  comment to journalists in the house of assembly.
