Nigerian Super Eagles play Tunisia in AFCON second round, meet Ghana for World Cup

Nigerian Super Eagles will on Sunday January 23, 2022 play the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon. The Round of 16 encounter begins at 8:00pm.

Besides, FIFA on Saturday January 22, 2022, drew Nigeria to play Ghana in the last round of Africa qualifier for the forthcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Tunisia, who lost to Gambia 1-0 on Thursday at AFCON, booked their place to the knockout phase as one of the four third-placed countries.

On the other hand, the Super Eagles topped their group, claiming the maximum nine points after winning all three matches.

Meanwhile, Egypt, who finished second in Nigeria’s group, will have to step up and beat Ivory Coast for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

But on the remaining fixtures of World Cup qualifier, Cameroon plays Algeria; Egypt meets Senegal; DR Congo vs Morocco, and Mali plays Tunisia.

The first leg of the matches begins on March 24, 2022.
