Sachet water scarcity hits Lagos

By Valentine Amanze

Sachet water (pure water) producers in Okota, Lagos State have embarked on strike over harsh working condition. As a result, prices have gone up.

Those, who spoke on condition of anonymity, lamented the high cost of manufacturing including electricity tariff hike and excess tax from the state government.

Nigeria News Flight gathered that the motive of the strike, which began on January 20, 2022, was to press for price increase.

Before the strike, a bag of sachet water was sold N700, while a sachet sold between N10 and N20.

A consumer, Mrs Funke Taiwo, said that she was not surprised with the development.

According to her, “Anytime they close shop we espect a price increase.

“Definitly, they are planning to hike the price of their products by creating scarcity.”
