Senegal are African Champions, Egypt lose in AFCON final

Senegal’s national football team, the Taranga Lions, have emerged winners of the 2021 edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Cameroon.
The Senagal’s team defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 3-2 in penalty shootout after 120 minutes normal and extra time at the final match played at Olembe Stadium on Sunday February 6, 2022.
With the result, Senegal has joined the league of nations that have won the championship after several trials.
Recall that Sadio Mane, who scored the winner for Senegal, had missed a penalty in the seventh minute of the regular time.
Cameroon, the host nation, won bronze after defeating Burkina Faso in a penalty shootout on Saturday February 5, 2022, with their captain, Vincent Abubakar, winning the Golden Boot, scoring eight goals.
Mane won the best player of the tournament; best goalkeeper went to his teammate, Edourd Mende.
Ivory Coast hosts the next edition.
