Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau

Zamfara State House of Assembly members on Friday voted in favour of impeachment of state Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau, from office.
In a statement issued by the assembly’s Director General, Press Affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the decision of the House to vote for the impeachment of the deputy governor followed a motion moved by the state deputy speaker and chairman of House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Musa Bawa Musa Yankuzo, which was seconded by another member, Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma.
After the secondment of the motion, the chief presiding officer and Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, directed the clerk of the House to effect the voting for each member of the House as required by the law.
Eighteen (18) out of 22 members of the House voted in affirmative that they supported the impeachment move of the embattled deputy governor from office.
The Speaker, after the voting, passed a resolution of the House requesting the state Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to immediately constitute a panel to investigate all the allegations leveled against the Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau, as contained in the Provision of Section 188 (5) of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
It could be recalled that in the plenary session of the House on Wednesday, the speaker directed each member of the House be served with the impeachment notice along side with all the series of allegations leveled against the deputy governor for their perusal and further necessary action.
