We did not attack any police station in Imo – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied attacking Umuguma and Omuma police stations in Owerri West council and Oru East of Imo State, respectively.

IPOB, in a statement issued by Comrade Emma Powerful, the media and publicity secretary, insisted that it was a non-violent and peaceful organization.

Besides, it described the allegation of violence as the government’s blackmail to tarnish its global reputation.

IPOB also accused the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, of being the brain behind the Unknown Gunmen in the state.

“We have said it severally that IPOB and ESN are not unknown gunmen and will never be. The enemies of our struggle have been looking for ways to link IPOB with criminal activities being sponsorsed by Gov. Hope Uzodinma and APC party to demonise IPOB.

“We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the command and leadership of our great prophet and indefatigable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to dissociate our noble movement from the ignoble attack on the police stations.

“IPOB/ESN operatives have  no hands in the attack. We challenge our accusers to provide the evidence showing that the attack was done by IPOB or ESN security outfit?” it said.

The group also urged the Nigeria police and DSS to question Uzodinma about the origin of unknown gunmen if they want to stop the killer squad.

Meanwhile, IPOB has dissociated itself from the activities of Simon Ekpa, stressing that he was not its member.

“We want to place it on record that Simon Ekpa is not, and has never been a member of IPOB. Since he does not want to abide by the ideals of IPOB he should form his own group and pursue Biafra freedom the way he is convinced and stop attaching himself to the cherished name of IPOB,” the group stated.
