NACCIMA condemns bandits’ attack on Kaduna Airport, passenger train, seeks partnership with govt on security

By Valentine Amanze

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has condemned the bandits’ attack on the Kaduna Airport; and a passenger train, which claimed many lives and properties in Kaduna State, recently.

It also advocated for urgent and incisive policy implementation by government at all levels to tackle insecurity, expressing readiness to partner with government to implement innovative solutions based on existing platforms, such as the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

In a statement issued by its acting Director-General, Mr. Opeyemi Alaran, NACCIMA said that the increasing insecurity was affecting business in Nigeria, urging the government to reverse the trend.

It pointed out that the rising insecurity was affecting inflows of foreign direct investment for sustained economic growth.

Besides, it commiserated with the families and loved ones of the deceased, while decrying the humanitarian and economic damage that the attack caused the country.

“We advocate yet again for urgent and incisive policy implementation by government at all levels to tackle insecurity.

“It is with a sense of sadness that our association, NACCIMA, reacts to news of bandits’ attacks on the Kaduna Airport and another on a passenger train.

“Our sense of sadness is for the avoidable loss of lives, for which we commiserate with the families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as the humanitarian and economic damage that these attacks have caused. As these quantifiable losses mount, the association is further disturbed by the increasing connotation that our country is unsafe to do business. This is extremely concerning given that current economic realities require inflows of foreign direct investment for sustained economic growth.”
