Stanley Emegha,

I don’t  consider PDP as an opposition in Ebonyi – APC chairman

By Mkpuma Enyinna, Abakaliki

The Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Stanley Emegha, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an opposition in in the state lacks unity, strength and organization and therefore not a threat to APC.

He also predicted that PDP would not win any elective position in the 2023 general elections.

Emegha, while reacting to the recent sack of the state chairman of PDP, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie by the Federal High Court, recently stated that before now, it was “few disgruntled elements” that were parading themselves in  the party, stressing, “with the court pronouncement and subsequent swearing in of another person, it implies that the party has more trouble than expected.”

He said that since Governor Dave Umahi defected in 2020, the party [PDP] died in Ebonyi State.

The APC chairman further said that the recent development had no bearing on the activities of his party because “PDP has never been a viable opposition in the state since Governor David Umahi abandoned the party.

“Before now only few disgruntled elements were parading themselves as a political party called PDP but with the court’s pronouncement today and subsequent swearing in of another person as its  chairman, it means there is more trouble among the individuals.

“For me, how can a political party which could not elect its leaders in a manner acceptable by the law boost of any relevance. Let me tell you that, if they want let them appoint anybody as a chairman, they cannot win even single elective position in the state come 2023 general elections.”
