2022 Press Week: Ebonyi journalists assure state of support, seek corporation of security agencies

As part of the activities to mark 2022 press week, the Correspondents Chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State chapter, has pledged to be partners in the growth and development of Ebonyi State.

It also called on security agencies in the state to see journalists as friends and desist from all forms of harassment and molestation against media practitioners while discharging their lawful duties.

It asked them to ensure protection of journalists just like every other citizens of Nigeria.

The chairman of Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, Ebonyi State chapter, Comrade Samson Nwafor, made the appeal in Abakaliki during a press conference organized as part of the activities lined up to mark 2022 press week.

The union called on journalists in the state to strictly abide by the ethics of the profession and shun fake news more especially this period that election is around the corner.

Nwafor, while commending the performance of the state governor, David Umahi, in changing the history of Ebonyi State, lauded the governor for the cordial relationship that had been existing between the journalists and Ebonyi State government, stressing that  Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, Ebonyi State is ready to be partners in the growth and development of the state through a fair and objective news reportage.
