.Threatens to sack political appointees, carpets Ohanaeze Ndigbo

By Nweze Anaga, Abakaliki

The Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, has said that the state and its citizens would not support the Labor Party (LP) eventhough he was defeated at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries at Abuja, recently.

He said that Ebonyi would remain APC state, while threatning to sack political appointees whose local government areas record poor registration of voters.

The governor, who is not happy with the outcome of the just concluded APC Presidential Primaries, said that the only bargaining power remaining was to ensure that greater number of Ebonyians have their PVCs ready for the forthcoming general elections.

The governor vowed: “Ebonyi State can never support Labour Party and if anybody questions the rationale behind that, let him ask the person wether they supported the Igbo Presidential ambition during the APC  Primaries.”

He accused the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo of failure to galvanize opinion, making a statement towards Igbo Presidency, which undermined the level of support gotten by  candidates from South East during the election.

He added that his major focus now was Ebonyi Agenda and has no business with Ohanaeze.

The governor, who spoke in Abakaliki on Monday, also appointed new head of service, Mrs. Rita Mary Okoro, and five new  commissioners to fill the vacant positions created in the EXCO as a result of the resignation of some members to contest elective positions in the 2023 general elections.

The executive council meeting  which took place at new Government House was attended by EXCO members, traditional rulers, religious leaders and party stalwarts.
