One of the political aspirants in the forthcoming local government election in Ebonyi State on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ogodo Ali Nome, has pledged to stop insecurity in the area through active engagement in agriculture.

Nome made the pledge in Abakaliki, while disclosing his intention to contest for the chairmanship of Ezza North Local Government Area in the forthcoming election.

He lamented the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, stressing that it was the major cause of insecurity across the country.

He however promised to bridge the gap by creating an environment for mechanized agriculture, which, he said, would pave the way for massive employment of the youths and thereby pull them out of crime and other social vices, while others would be engaged with government activities and programmes  for the growth and development of the state.

“If given the mandate as the Chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area, there will be no insecurity because I will secure land where people will be empowered to carry out mechanized farming to sustain the people and generate income to the state because an idle mind is devil’s workshop. So, when everybody is busy, nobody will go into crime.

“Again, there will be enabling environment for participation in politics and government. When we create enabling environment for people’s participation in agriculture and government, there will be no insecurity.

“I need to serve my people at any level”, he said.
