I know what I want in life; not appointment for job seekers

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Austin Umahi, who is the immediate younger brother to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has turned down President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment as the Secretary of Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, Chief Umahi also appealed to anyone that is interested in the position to meet the governor, stressing that it was still vacant.

His words: “Let me deeply appreciate each and everyone of you that sent his or her congratulatory message  and numerous calls for my appointment as the RAMFC Secretary.

“I am honestly humbled by this show of love. However, I regret to inform you that I declined the appointment because it is at best for job seekers or retired civil servants or better still anyone who loves the job and secondly, I am convinced that at my age and work experience it is not in doubt that I know what I want in life.

“Please if you are interested in the position do not hesitate to approach our indefatigable governor to do the needful because as far as I am concerned the position is still vacant. Thanks and God bless”.

Recall that Austin Umahi, who emerged as the candidate of the APC in the just concluded senatorial primaries, withdrew from the race to enable his brother, Governor Umahi, to clinch the ticket but unfortunately, INEC refused to accept the candidature of Governor Umahi for the position since he was not part of the first primaries that was monitored by INEC and for also sueing INEC for not uploading his name in their platform.

However, the court had agreed that INEC was right to refuse publishing his name as candidate of the party as the second primary, which he won, did not follow Electoral Act, which made the  court to order for a fresh primary election within 14 days to replace the vacant position.
