The Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical Arochukwu (ASCETA), Dr Phillips Nto, has demanded an apology letter from a former staff of the institution for defamatory statements against him and his office.
In a letter of January 6, 2023 and signed by his lawyer, K. I. Oleh Esq of Sanctum Chambers, Dr Phillips Nto, gave the former staff, Kelvin Egesi, seven days to retract and apologize for the offensive and defamatory statements or face the legal consequences.
The letter averred that Kelvin Egesi had on January 02,2023 in his Facebook page published ” libelous, unverified and unjustified ” statements against Dr Phillips Nto.
It noted that the offensive publications were done under two headlines: ASCETA AT THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION, CALL FOR IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION BY ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT and DR PHILLIPS NTO: A WICKED MAN TO SACK FIVE MORE LECTURERS TO COVER HIS EVIL ACT.
It said that the defamatory statements had not only damaged the reputation of Dr Phillips Nto but capable of damaging his character.
According to the letter, Kelvin Egesi, had published the said words against Nto, knowing them to be false with the sole intent to tarnish his image.
It subsequently gave Kelvin Egesi seven days to retract the offensive publications and render an apology to Dr Phillips Nto in the same medium of his Facebook page or face the legal consequences of his ill advised action.
