‘Commercial activities of the Ebonyi community have been crippled because of the bad leadership and approaches of the APC government in the state and at the national level’
By Nweze Anaga, Abakaliki
Ahead of 2023 gubernatorial elections in Ebonyi State, no fewer than 200 of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members have defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Those, who defected during the PDP local government rally in Abakaliki include
APC former youth leader, Mr. Emmanuel Jeff Emenike, among others from Ugwu Udunta village, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
On behalf of the defectors, Mr. Jeff Emenike, stated that they decided to dump the ruling APC over what he called leadership failure and the inability of the party and government in power to ensure security of lives and properties coupled with economic challenges that is ravaging the country.
He argued that the APC-led government in the state lacked managerial principles and approaches that would usher in democratic dividends to the rural dwellers which would help to alleviate their plights and make life good for people.
Welcoming the defectors, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, stated that if voted in as governor of the state, he would revive the security sectors, create wealth, and rebuild small and medium enterprises in across the state.

He siaid, “Commercial activities of the Ebonyi community have been crippled because of the bad leadership and approaches of the APC government in the state and at the national level.
“When we come to power by May by His grace, we will ensure that Ebonyi state returns to its past glory as the salt of the nation we are known for.”
The Director General of Anyi Chuks campaign organization, Chief Austin Igwe Ede Eze, said: “We received 200 APC and members today (Friday) into our great party the PDP. The defectors are from Izzi Local Government Area.”
He urged all the defectors to be diligent and also bring their supporters to the PDP fold for the victory of the party in the forthcoming general election in Ebonyi state.
