.Plan revenge for Brentford at Old Trafford
Manchester, United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong has hit the rock, with reports that FC Barcelona now consider the midfielder ‘untouchable’ less than 12 months after agreeing a fee to sell him.
Manchester United managaer, Erik ten Hag, had been wooing Jong, his former player in Ajax, since the beginning of the saesn to strengthen his mid-field before the acquisition of Casemiro from Real Madrid.
Hag’s renewed interest in Jong stemened from the fact that Casemiro had been kept out of the domestic matche squad by red card, while Christian Eriksen had been tied down by ankle injury.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have the chance to re-establish their place in the top four this evening when they host Brentford at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side are without a win or a goal in their last three games but three points this evening can once again out them in the driving seat for Champions League qualification – not to mention the psychological boost to beating the side that humiliated them at the start of the season.
Christian Eriksen’s return to full first-team training won’t have come quick enough for the Dane to feature against his old side.
Also, Anthony Martial’s appearance off the bench on Sunday could pave the way for his first start since January and a welcome rest for Wout Weghorst.
Also, Luke Shaw’s new contract will provide a much-needed boost ahead of a crucial run-in.
The left-back has put pen to paper on a four-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2017.
