Manchester United may have settled for Atalanta of Italy hitman, Rasmus Hojlund, in its quest for a Top 9 striker after its earlier bid was rejected by the club.
The Manchester club, which had a €35 million initial bid rejected, is set for an improved €40m+ offer.
According to a report by 90min, Manchester United had “two bids rejected” for Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund.
The Old Trafford club identified the Denmark international as an attainable target to strengthen its forward options in this summer’s transfer window.
The striker joined Atalanta last summer and excelled in his first season in Italy, making him one of the hottest properties in Europe.
Besides, the United manager Erik ten Hag suffered a setback in his pursuit of Justin Bijlow, with Feyenoord reportedly insisting their goalkeeper was not for sale.
That could reopen the door for David de Gea to return, having technically been released by the club upon the end of his contract on Friday.

Meanwhile, the club’s latest acquisition, Mason Mount, was at Carrington for his medical on Monday morning ahead of completing his move to Manchester United.
Manchester United Newsletter reported that a van carrying the England midfielder was pictured arriving at United’s Carrington training complex at around 8am, and he was followed a short while later by a raft of United players.
The United players who were not involved in international action last month were scheduled to return on Monday morning, and the likes of Donny van de Beek, Antony and Lisandro Martinez were spotted driving into training.
