Nigerian workers on the platform of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have pulled down the gate of the National Assembly in Abuja as they began their nationwide protest over the rising economic hardship in the country.

The workers, led by Comrade Joe Ajaero, on Tuesday August 2, 2023, were protesting after the President Bola Tinubu-led government ignored their plea to reverse its anti-people policies failed.

As early as 7:00am, they assembled at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with banners of varouis inscriptions condemning the government policies.

While they matched to the National Assembly gate, they were denied entry by overzealeous security men, which caused them to pull down the gate.

Meanwhile, as at press time, no reaction has come from either the labour leader or the federal government on the protest.
