‘It is God that calls people, qualifies them, and uses them to glorify His name’

The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has ordained and licensed 14 priests as ministers of the gospel in Ebonyi State.
The ordination and licensing, which took place at the Redemption Congratulation, opposit Ezekuna Hall, off Nsugbe street, Abakaliki, witnessed people from all walks of life who came to felicitate and celebrate with the newly ordained priests and family members.
A total number of 14 persons were ordained and licensed to preach the gospel including the former chief press secretary to the first executive governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Odicha Ude, were among the ordained.
On the topic, “This is an honour from God, don’t abuse it”, the Presbytery moderator, Rev. Cornelius O. Eke, explained that the ordination of the 14 priests was the best thing that happened to the church, calling on the newly ordained priests to use it to honour God, advertise the church, and bless humanity.
He also urged them not to abuse abuse the previlage, adding, “It is God that calls people, qualifies them, and uses them to glorify His name.

“It is an honor from God for you to be among those selected to serve God and the people. Use it to honour God, use it to bless humanity, and advertise the church.
“Sometimes, God uses people that look unqualified to serve Him; but it is God that calls, and it is God that qualifies. God calls people, qualifies them, uses them to glorify His name. God who called you, will equip you but you must promise not to disappoint God.” he said.
Eke, who took his Bible lessons from 2 Samuel 18: 19 –33 and Hebrews 5 : 1-5, further stated that in every calling, there is a purpose. And one has to understand and run with the purpose because if the purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.
He said that Absalom wanted to takeover power from his father, David, by all costs but later died in the process because he was not called and has no purpose.
He said that the pressure of life, ministry and society would come, but if you are not truely called for a purpose, you will be benched.”
He urged them not to struggle for material things because God will provide them.
After the ordination, the HOD of Mass communication, Ebonyi State University, Dr Agatha Orji Egwu, expressed joy over the ordination of Dr Odicha Ude, saying that it is a call for more service and a great honour for God to call someone to work for Him.
