.Says Oguta seaport is actualisable under the governor
‘Chief Onyemaechi also said that the governor if returned to power would continue to use his local and international connections to accelerate the pace of development and transformation of the state; warning that doing otherwise by the electorate might result in the discontinuation of the free healthcare programme by another governor’

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Chief Alan B Onyemaechi, has appealed to the Oguta communities to vote massively for Governor Hope Uzodinma in the November 11, 2023 Governorship election to enable him continue with his lofty 3RS mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.
Onyemaechi, who is the governor’s Special Adviser on Health Insurance, made the appeal, while on a Monitoring and Evaluation visit to the Awa Primary Health Centre in the Oguta Council to ascertain the level of implementation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Programme being executed by the state government in collaboration with the federal government in the area.
Onyemaechi also warned against voting for the people he described as “desperate politicians.”
“A vote for desperate politicians with empty promises and who have nothing to offer the masses might scuttle the dredging of the Oguta Lake in their area into a Seaport already initiated by the governor,” he said.
Chief Onyemaechi also disclosed to the Oguta electorate that as the chairman of the Progressive Governor’s Forum, the state was lucky to have Uzodinma as a governor whom he said, “uses his connections with the Presidency to attract more federal presence in the state and is poised to sustain this if returned to power to add more value to the state.”
Besides, he assured that the state government would intensify its healthcare delivery services for pregnant women, children and the less-privileged in the state despite financial constraints.
Chief Onyemaechi, a former Aboh Mbaise Council Chairman as well as the pioneer Coordinator of the Enyiato Development Centre, Aboh Mbaise, described the provision of result-oriented qualitative healthcare services as of paramount interest to the state government, stressing that it was against this background that the state government had embarked on mass renovation and refurbishing of all its public healthcare institutions, supporting them with ultra-modern state-of the-art equipment and experienced medical personnel.
He explained that the programme, which is free of charge without any political undertone, was primarily to assist the vulnerable group, the elderly, pregnant women and children under five years as well as the poor and the needy.
He assured that Governor Hope Uzodimma was keen to sustain the programme for the welfare of the targeted beneficiaries and enjoined the people to vote massively for the governor in the forthcoming governorship election for them to reap more democracy dividends, adding that the three (3) senatorial zones of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe had already endorsed him for re-election.

IMSHIA Executive Secretary ES/CEO, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, addressing the people through the Liaison Officer for Oguta, disclosed that the programme was being implemented in 11 INEC wards of Oguta in one PHC per INEC ward.
According to him, previous enrolment captured 1.0.66003 in 305 INEC wards in the state who are currently accessing care since April, 2023 till date.
His words: “BHCCPF Health Insurance Programme Enrolment 2.0 targets 18,900 enrolless/loves.”
He listed four Health Insurance programmes of the IMSHIA as BHCPF, formal sector/ civil servants, Imocare/ informal sector tertiary education social health insurance programme.
Some of the beneficiaries of the programme – Ignatius Freeborn Kanu of Ndiudoakpiri Awa, Barbanas Ojiaku of Umuakuchukwu village and secretary/ Ward Development Centre (WDC), Juliana Nzeribe (Umuokpara Kalu village) Mrs. Uju Ukaegbu (Umuocha village) and Festus Unachukwu – in their various remarks, expressed gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for his commitment to alleviating the health hazards of the masses and pledged to vote massively for him in the on-coming November 11 polls so as to sustain the programme.
