The eradication of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) against women and girls is the responsibility of everyone, says SGBV Case Management Committee in Bauchi State.
The committee, in collaboration with Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation (ASHHF), gave the verdict at the September monthly meeting, which ended in Bauchi on Saturday.
The meeting resolved to involve every person in the fight against sexual gender-based violence in the state.
Mrs Grace Maikudi, the acting chairperson of the Committee, commended members for their turn up to the meeting.
She explained that the Committee had the responsibility of protecting women, girls, men and boys against SGBV at all times.
“At all locations, including in the home, school and work, in public places, on public transport, and at aid distribution points always protect people against sexual violence.

“Ensure that SGBV survivors could confidentially report incidents and have timely and non-discriminatory access to services and support, including medical, psychosocial, legal and material assistance, as well as safe spaces where needed,” Maikudi said.
She also appealed to Nigerians to ensure that SGBV survivors seek a judicial remedy if they wish.
“Encourage and enable persons of concern to become actively involved in protecting women, men, girls and boys against SGBV, including through community-based protection networks and initiatives,” she said.
On his part, the Programme Manager of ASHHF, Mr Kingsley Yallings, reminded members of the advocacy visit to the new Commissioners of Education, Women Affairs, Justice.
The meeting had in attendance government officials, health workers, parents, teachers, traditional and religious leaders, People With Disabilities, Media among others.
