The battle for the soul of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State took a violent dimension with a violent clash on Thursday October 19, 2023.
While the leaders of the two factions of the party – the former Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gbeyega Oyetola; and the former Governor and the immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola – are yet to comment on the clash of their supporters, it was gathered that thugs working for Oyetola allegedly attacked Mrs. Tutu Olanrewaju, who is a member of Aregbesola’s Omoluabi Progressives Caucus.
The attack was said to be in connection with an earlier Suit on a “matter” that snowballed to the recent Suit N0: HOS/M.508/2023 brought before the State High Court, Osogbo Judicial Division by Mrs. Olanrewaju, on behalf of the Aregbesola Caucus of the state chapter of the APC.

It was also alleged that the Oyetola camp had earlier attacked Olanrewaju on her way from Igangan-Ijesa to Ilesa on October 2, 2023, after they learnt that she would institute an action against it in the Court of competent jurisdiction.
It added that the matter had since been reported to the Police in the area, adding that the case was initially instituted at Osogbo Magistrate Court before refiling at the State High Court, Osogbo Judicial Division on October 10, 2023.
While the Police response is awaited, a source from her family alleged that the thugs were coordinated by a former commissioner in the state.
Besides, the source further disclosed that Mrs. Olanrewaju, who the thugs stopped at Igangan-Ijesa, had been rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate intensive care treatment.
