Imo Elders Council accuses Labour of denying Imo people, businesses electricity and air travel

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have shut down the Abuja International Airport and Imo Airport in protest of the Police brutality on the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in Owerri, recently.
The organized labour closed the busy Abuja International Airport on Thursday November 9, 2023 after they had done the same in Imo.
Nigeria News Flight gathered that the workers were seen at Abuja as early as 8:00am strategizing before blocking the Abuja International Airport road with trucks and other vehicles.
In their hundreds, the workers were singing and dancing anti-government songs, stressing that they would not backout, and that they would continue on Friday.

They said that they were expressing their anger on Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, whom they accused ordered the police to brutalise Ajaero, their president, in Owerri, Wednesday last week.
The action of the workers caused traffic and derupted economic activities in Abuja on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Imo Elders Council on Thursday November 9, 2023, berated the labour for shutting down Imo Airport.
The council described as “unprecedented in the history of the world”, the action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), banning flights in the state and shutting down electricity in protest against an assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero.
One of the elders, who addressed the media in Owerri, the state capital, Senator Chris Anyanwu, said that the wise thing for Ajaero and Labour would have been to dialogue with the government and resolve all outstanding issues.
Ajaero was attacked in Owerri Wednesday last week just before a planned protest in the state to press the state government to heed the demands of the workers in the state.
