.Nigerians show no sympathy
‘The gunmen, who arrived the residence around 3.30am, were repelled by a reinforced security team after a 30-minute heavy gun battle’

Panic in Kogi, as gunmen, in their numbers, raided the residence of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, Kogi State, and destroyed items worth millions of naira on Friday December 1, 2023.
The gunmen, who arrived the residence around 3.30am, were repelled by a reinforced security team after a 30-minute heavy gun battle, while no live was lost.
INEC confirmed the attact in its X, @inecnigeria, on Friday afternoon.
It stated: “In the early hours of today, Friday 1st December 2023, around 3.30am, gunmen attacked the residence of our Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, Kogi State.
“The armed men engaged the security personnel in a gun battle for over 30 minutes until reinforcement arrived.”

It further disclosed that a team of combined security personnel had been deployed to protect the residence, while calling for an investigation on the attack.
“We call for a thorough investigation and enhanced security protection for our personnel and assets in Kogi State,” INEC stated.
The incident occurred a day after a mob besieged the INEC state office.
Besides, the attack is not attracking any sympathy in the social media.

“You guys assisted and defended the same criminals that are attacking you. This is what happens when you focus on transactionalism instead of transparency and fairness.”
Jorgor, @Jorgornut, asked: “Did the REC die? Did the REC conduct free, fair, credible election? Who did this or who staged this?
“Only govt or somebody with money and guns can do this. Check yourselves.”
