A driver attached to Ebonyi State Ministry of Internal Security, Mr.Eze Isaac Onwe, is having sleepness nights over his motorcycle stolen at the Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki on Wednesday December 20, 2023.

Onwe said that the motorcycle, Topstar CJ 125, black colour, with registration number, Enugu UWN 412 QU, aided him to feed his family since his salary was not enough to take up the responsibility.

He also appealed to the government for assistance, lamenting that he bought the motorcycle on hirer purchase.

Onwe narrated to the Nigeria News Flight that the motorcycle was parked at the designated area inside the old government house before it was carted away by yet to be identified person.

He further said that the stolen motorcycle had been his major source of livelihood as the monthly salary couldn’t sustain him and his family.

He narrated his ordeal: “What happened was that when I came in the morning, I went and parked my motorcycle where we were directed to park immediately after the main gate.

“So, when I was hungry in the afternoon and I went out to buy launch, I checked and the bike was no more there.

“When I reported to the security, the Chief security officer directed his workers to do an investigation, while they took my statement.”

When contacted for his reaction over the incident, the  Commissioner for Internal Security, Eta Ukah Udeh, querried why journalists should call him over the stolen motorcycle.

He said that he was not employed to watch over  motorcycle, while querying the identity of journalists investigating the stolen motorcycle.

“How did you know that there is insecurity in government house? Did he park the bike under the custody of who? You said insecurity; what  do you mean by insecurity in government house? Somebody might have come in here and park his bike and another person takes it, and you call it insecurity. Do you know what is called insecurity?

“You can’t get my position on the matter because you are not coming through the direct area. Am I the one that will take custody of his machine? Is my car not parked here? Because I am the commissioner of internal security, I am now the commissioner in charge of motorcycle in the state. You don’t just call somebody and say somewhere is insureds,” the commissioner said.

Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Police Command is yet to react on the stolen motorcycle at the State Government House.
