The Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Hon. Ikechukwu Odono, has confirmed that gunmen killed one female security officer and injuring many others, while raiding the Office of Ngboejeogu Central Security at Ngbo Court on Wednesday.

They also carted away properties worth millions of naira during the attack that lasted more than one hour.

Odono also lamented that several security men had been battered, humiliated, abused, and murdered gruesomely by criminals in the locality, stressing that the trend was demoralising the frantic efforts of the vigilante in safeguarding the people and their properties.

 Besides, he disclosed that efforts were on top gear by security operatives to ensure the criminals were apprehended and brought to justice.

His words: “We are saddened on the cruel and bloody  invasion of faceless gunmen on the Office of Ngboejeogu Central Security at Ngbo Court.

“The attack claimed the life  of a security personnel, left one injured, destruction of some properties, and looted a motorcycle.

“Severally, our security men have been battered, humiliated, abused, and murdered gruesomely which demoralizes the frantic efforts of our vigilantees in safeguarding our localities.

“Sorrowfully, we mourn and console the families of the departed security personnel that lost her life in active duty, the one that is injured, operatives of Ngboejeogu Central Security, Ngboejeogu Clan, and entire Ohaukwu.

“Effort is on top gear by security operative to ensure the culprits of these heinous crime are apprehended, and brought to justice.

“Resolve to achieve peace in Ohaukwu Local Government Area can never be undermined by anybody. We urge our people to be vigilante in their environment and report any illegal movement to the nearest police station.”

All efforts made to get the reaction of Ebonyi State police command proved abortive as the PPRO did not respond.
