FUT, Minna, to honour 7, 312 graduands during convocation

A total of 7, 312 graduands will be conferred with Doctorate Degree (PhD), Masters Degree, First Degree and Post Graduate Diplomas during the combined 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic session of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna.

The combined 31st and 32nd convocation of the university will start on Friday January 26, 2024 and rounded off on Thursday February 1, 2024 with the convocation proper at the main campus, Gidan-Kwano where Fist Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas and Higher Degrees will be conferred on the graduates as well as Award of different categories of prizes.

Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta disclosed this while briefing journalists yesterday on the week-long event which will include commissioning of some projects executed since his assumption of office as the 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the citadel.

The classification of the Degrees for the 2021/2022, the vice chancellor said, includes; 71 First Class Honour, 1, 091 Second Class Honour Upper Division and 116 First Class Honour and 1, 099 Second Class Upper Division for the 2022/2023 academic session, respectively.

Part of the achievements since his assumption of office includes research, innovations and development as the university has consistently maintained its position among the league of universities in Nigeria and beyond, adding that within 2022 and 2023 researchers from various schools and departments demonstrate competency in research and innovation which has attracted the sum of N844, 597, 376.75 as National Research Fund grant sponsored by TETFund.

Professor Kuta also said that FUT, Minna, has partnered with some foreign universities on areas that will add value to the desired academic excellence and innovations in addition to 10 research products that have been patented to it.     

Other achievements within the period under review, the Vic Chancellor said include staff growth and development, adding that between 2022 and 2023 FUT, Minna produced 54 Professors, promoted 144 academic staff, 441 senior non-teaching staff and 361 junior staff
