Police arrest five robbery suspects in Bauchi

Bauchi Police Command, Bauchi State, has arrested five armed robbery suspects for alleged attempt to rob one Dr. Kabiru Umar of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi of his Peugeot car and other valuable items.  

The Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement he issued on Sunday, confirmed that the incident happened at Anguwan Shongel and Tirwun surburb of Bauchi metropolis.

He narrated that on Tuesday January 23, 2024, a team of Police detectives attached to ‘C’ Division headquarters with a quasi-security outfit on patrol arrested the suspects.

“The suspects were armed with dangerous weapons, criminally conspired among themselves and trespassed into a house belonging to one Dr. Kabiru Umar of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi.

“They attempted to rob him of his car, a Peugeot dark-blue car, and other valuable items. But they were chased and arrested,” he said.

He said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their offense. According to him, the suspects include

Musbahu Umar, 23, of Tirwun area of Bauchi; Salim Hamisu, 30; and Sadiq Nura, 22.

Others, he said, are Abubakar Aliyu, 22, and  Mohammed Mohammed, 20, 

all of Anguwan Shongel and Tirwun areas, respectively.

Wakil said that investigation also revealed that the suspects were from Kano and rented two houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters.

The spokesman said that the command

 recovered from the suspects exhibits that include two new matchets, one Honda car, ignition key and two Qlink motorcycle ignition keys.

Wakil further disclosed that investigation was ongoing to arrest the remaining gang members, after which the defendants would be profiled and charged to court for the established offenses.
