‘I had made this promise during my campaign visit to Afikpo but the Honourable Minister of Works has told me the project had been captured in the Federal budget’

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has promised to restore electricity supply in Afikpo and its environment.
He made the pledge while welcoming members of Ekpukessa Traditional Council of Elders at the Government House, Abakalilki.
The governor also expressed displeasure over the delay in the completion of the project despite his intervatinon.
“I have spoken to Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and cleared all the backlog of challenges they had. I had expected that by now, they would have mobilised back to site but it didn’t happen.
“However, I will not leave it for the Commissioner for Power alone, I will get more people involved to ensure the job is completed before close of work on 30th March, 2024,” the governor assured.

The Governor also assured that work would soon commence on Ndibe Beach Bridge as a way of bringing development closer to the people.
“I had made this promise during my campaign visit to Afikpo but the Honourable Minister of Works has told me the project had been captured in the Federal budget. He also assured that enough money was earmarked and a competent contractor will be selected to handle the job. I believed him because he is a man of his words.
“I will also monitor the project to ensure that it happens.”.
The governor also commended Afikpo people for their partnership even before the creation of the state and urged them to always form political alliance with other parts of the state.
The leader of the delegation, Chief Christopher Abagha Egwu, said that they were in Government House to identify with the Governor and appreciate him for his laudable policies and programmes.
