The Senate Deputy Chief Whip,  representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District,  Senator  Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has appointed a physically-challenged man, Mr. Alo Sampson Chinedu, as one of his legislative aides.

Nwebonyi also pledged to build five bungalows for other five-physically challenged persons, and provide basic needs for members of Association of People with Special Needs in his constituency.

Nwebonyi made the promise on Thursday during the Easter homage to him at  his country-home, Mbeke Ishieke, Ebonyi Local Government Area by members of Association of

People with Special Needs, Ebonyi North zone.

After hearing from them on the mission of their visit, the Nwebonyi assured them of providing their basic needs  beginning with the building of five bungalows for the first batch of the beneficiaries which must be completed  as soon as possible.

While encouraging them not to despair because God has not forsaken them, Nwebonyi charged them to face their challenges with courage and forbearance.

Senator Nwebonyi added that he would assist them to set up thriving business ventures that will daily put food on their tables, and announced  automatic appointment of Mr Alo Sampson Chinedu as his Legislative Aide on People with Special Needs. In his words:

“I’m deeply touched by your plights. But I want to assure you that all hope is not lost. I will do my utmost best to provide all your basic needs.

“Let me start by approving the immediate building of five houses for the five of you who will constitute the first batch. The rest of you will be accommodated in the subsequent batches.

“Aside the building of  houses, I will set up a thriving  joint business venture  which will provide your daily incomes. As for mobility, I will donate a brand new bus to you in order to ease your transportation needs.

“All these things are meant to give you a sense of belonging because whoever wants to see God must see Him through you. It’s my believe that we serve God by always stretching our helping hands to the needy.

“Your president, as one of my Legislative Aides, will always liaise with me to cater for your general welfare.”

The group led by their President, Mr Sampson Chinedu Alo, said that they came to celebrate the Easter with Senator Nwebonyi and also intimate him on their special needs.

Mr Alo revealed that they are going through difficult and harrowing experiences in life due to their peculiar condition that makes them dissipate multiple energies before accomplishing a simple task. He said:

“We are delighted to be here today to celebrate the Easter with you, the Most Distinguished Senator. We have been keenly observing your exemplary leadership style and rare compassion for the needy.

“We therefore commend  you highly on your giant legislative strides and deemed it right to seek your interventions on our own peculiar predicaments. Thus, some of our pressing needs include: lack of shelter, source of livelihood, mobility, and stereotypes.  We have come to you because we believe that you will lighten our  onerous burdens.”

Mr Sampson Alo appreciated Senator Nwebonyi for granting all their requests and for always identifying with the dregs of the society.

They  prayed God to bless him beyond bounds, preserve him and prolong his life so as to continue what they described as his uncommon humanitarian services and effective representation.

“Senator Nwebonyi’s rare kind gesture was brought to the fore once again on Easter Monday 1st April, 2024 when he played host to the delegation of the Association of People with Special Needs, Ebonyi North Zone who paid him Easter homage in his country-home, Mbeke Ishieke, Ebonyi local government area of  Ebonyi state”, he stated.
