Eboby State governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered for the addition of N10,000 into Ebonyi workers’ salary and also pledged to recruit 1,000 teachers across the state.
The governor made the disclosure, while addressing workers during the celebration of May 1 Workers Day at Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on Wednesday May 1, 2024.
He said that his administration was ready to reposition civil service and ensure welfare of workers in the state.
Nwifuru also announced the recruitment of more 1,000 teachers to augment the existing number and improve quality of teaching and learning in the state.

In his address, the state chairman of NLC, Prof. Ogugua Egwu, while presenting their demand, appreciated the governor for being workers friendly as well as his programmes and policies.
He also demanded for the engagement of more teachers in the public primary and secondary schools, enhancing the welfare packages of workers by improving the wage award with an additional 20,000 to assist workers.
The May Day was attended by various labour unions and leaders across the state including executive council members.
