A pan-Igbo organization, Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), has commended Nigeria’s formost industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for slashing the price of diesel, a major commodity used by heavy duty vehicles and industries, from N1, 650 to N1,000 per litre.
The NUF President, Augustine Chukwudum, who made the commendation in a press statement, also
said that the reduction would force the prices of foodstuff down, as the trucks that transport them would go back to business.
Chukwudum also expressed optimism that when fully operational Dangote Refinery would equally force the prices of petrol and kerosene down.

“If Dangote Refinery starts fully and gets all its crude oil from Nigeria, the prices of petrol, kerosene and diesel would reduced to N50 per litre for petrol; N20 per litre for kerosene and N40 per litre for diesel.
“This is why the Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari, tried to frustrate Dangote Refinery,” he said.
Chukwudum, however, appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinbunu to sack and probe Kyari for economic sabotage, while urging him to ensure steady supply of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery.
The NUF chief also called on the governors of South-East states of Anambra, Imo, and Abia, to woo investors who will build refineries in each of the state to boost their economy and reduce youth restiveness via employment opportunies.
