. Negotiation continues Wednesday
‘There is nothing on the table…We may be reconvening tomorrow (Wednesday) in the afternoon to continue negotiations’

The current worth of Nigerian workers remains a mirage as the Feeral Government and the Organised Labour on Tuesay May 21, 2024 failed again to agree on the new minimum wage.
While the Organised Labour was insisting on the N615,000 proposed by both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the federal government only offered to pay N54,000 as against the initial N48,000 it proposed during the last sitting.
Consequently, the meeting of the Tripartite Committee on the New Minimum Wage in Nicon luxury hotel, Abuja, was adjurned; to continue on Wednesday May 22, 2024.

Nigeria News Flight however gathered that the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, was not happy with whath the federal government brought to the table.
He described as “unsubstantial”, the fresh proposal by the government.
His words: “It is still not substantial compared to what we need to make a family moving.
“There is nothing on the table…We may be reconvening tomorrow (Wednesday) in the afternoon to continue negotiations.
“The economy of the workers is totally destroyed. In fact, the workers do not have any economy. I think there are two economies in the country; the economy of the bourgeoisie and the economy of the workers. I think we have to harmonise this so that we can have a meeting point.”
