Fire razes down properties worth millions of naira in Ebonyi

Abakaliki

Residents of Gilbert Street, Kpirikpiri Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, are now homeless.

They are mourning and lamenting the early morning inferno that also destroyed fashion design shops, domestic utensils, and certificates.

The incident, which was said to have started at about 6am on Wednesday, occured at the popular No. 2, Gilbert Street in Abakaliki Ebonyi State.

One of the victims of the incident, Mr. Francis Itumo,  who is a teacher, lamented bitterly over the fire outbreak.

He said that that all his properties including certificates were all destroyed by the fire.

He explained that he went out for morning mass when the incident occured, adding that the fire started in the morning; but Fire Service personel came later to interven in.

 Though lives were not lost, the cause of the incident is still unknown.

 But victims have called on the government for assistance.
