The Bauchi State government is set to upgrade the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) from its present 16,000 to 30,000 seats.

The state’s Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Mohammed Salis, disclosed this at a news conference n Bauchi.

He said that the remodeling and upgrading of the sporting facility would be executed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

“This is in line with the Governor Bala Mohammed’s vision to revamp sporting facilities, including the dilapidated olympic-size swimming pool, games village, and multipurpose indoor sports hall.

“This partnership will not only provide a befitting venue for sports enthusiasts but also create opportunities for economic growth and development of the state,” he said.

Salis said the modern sporting facilities would enhance the performance of athletes, attract national and international competitions as well as promote tourism.
