Obi: Tinubu ignored victims of excessive actions of security operatives

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu of not showing sufficient empathy towards Nigerians affected by the excessive actions of some security operatives during the nationwide ongoing end bad governance and hunger protest.
Obi said that it was the role of the government to protect peaceful protesters while addressing criminals disrupting the demonstrations.
Obi, who expressed his views on X, @PeterObi, also welcomed the President’s condemnation of ethnic bigotry but called for more decisive actions, including the immediate arrest and prosecution of those promoting intolerance.

The Anambra State former governor however faulted the President’s address, alleging that Tinubu was out of touch with the current realities, while suggesting either a lack of awareness among the President’s advisers or a deliberate neglect of pressing issues.
He urged Tinubu to distance himself from sycophants and engage with individuals who could provide honest feedback.
While the President’s speech focused on historical issues, Obi called for urgent attention to present and future challenges, such as reducing the high cost of governance, tackling corruption, and addressing the high cost of living.
He urged the government to focus more on health, education, and poverty alleviation.
Obi also advocated for a comprehensive approach to tackling insecurity, economic difficulties, and other critical issues, advising the President to provide regular briefings on tangible measures being implemented to address the nation’s problems.
