Bauchi State government has said that it imposed a 24-hour curfew in Katagum Local Government Area because to the deteriorating security situation in Azare town, and its environments in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Media Adviser to Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, in Bauchi
on Monday August 5, 2024.
The statement said that the incident led to “destruction of public property, stealing, and vandalism.
“His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has therefore approved the imposition, with immediate effect, a 24-hour curfew in Katagum LGA, to contain the situation.”

It further stated that the Governor had already directed all security agencies to wade into the matter and ensure that the hoodlums were fished out and brought to book.
It called on law-abiding citizens to cooperate with security agencies at this trying moment in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Azare is the second largest town in the state, where suspected criminals vandalised the government lodge, country home of the immediate past deputy governor, Senator Baba Tela and burnt the Local Government Secretariat.
According to the residents of Azare, the hoodlums vandalized the politician’s home during the ongoing nationwide protests against ‘bad governance’.
The thugs reportedly torched the Secretariat on Monday.
