Flood-ravaged states in Nigeria are to receive N3 billion each from the federal government.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who made the disclosure during his
visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, also disclosed that the states devastated by insecurity would benefit from the windfll.
“This visit is a symbolic gesture; we have come on assessment tour and I want to assure the government and people of Niger State that the President is poised to assist all the states affected in addressing flood control and security challenges,” he said.
Shettima listed some of the states that needed the windfall urgently to include Borno, Sokoto, Niger, Bayelsa and Jigawa.

“We will do assessment and as well be scientific in our approach and all states that deserve to be supported will be fully supported because governance is all about the people and the President has the people in his mind.
“We will go round the country and offer empathy and support,” the vice president assured.
Those, who accompanied the vice president during the visit include the Minister of Information, Muhammed Idris Malagi, and the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi both of them from Niger State.
