The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two young men for dehumanising two teenage girls allegedly caught stealing a fowl in Ojiegbe Ngbo community in Ohaukwu council of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, also confirmation that the two young men – Dennis Ali and Ituma Sunday – were the primary suspects in the disturbing viral video where two teenage girls were stripped, flogged, and dehumanised.
He further disclosed that the incident occurred at Ojiegbe Ngbo community in Ohaukwu councul of Ebonyi State in November 2023.
He also stated that the two teenage girls are 15 and 16 years old.
The PPRO lamented that the girls were subjected to inhuman treatment.

He said, “Criminal cases have legal punishment which is stipulated in the criminal code; and if anyone is caught in this situation, he or she should be handed over to the police.
“This treatment is too much for those small under age girls. Primitive life is still somehow affecting Ebonyi communities.”
The Police spokesperson also pointed out that upon assuming office, CP. Anthonia A. Uche-Anya, called for the eradication of trial by ordeal, jungle justice, and self-help in criminal justice.
She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to rooting out such practices in Ebonyi State with stakeholders’ support.
Furthermore, she assured that those involved would face the full wrath of the law for their heinous actions.
