Tafida reassured citizens of the state government’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing further attacks

Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Abubakar Umar Tafida, has confirmed the bandits’ fresh attack on Mera community in the Augie Local Government Area of the state, which claimed 15 lives and many domestic animals.
The deputy governor confirmed the attack on Frday, while expressing condolences to the victims’ families.
During his visit to the community, Tafida reassured citizens of the state government’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing further attacks.
He assured that the government would continue collaborating closely with security agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera, also conveyed his sorrow over the brutal attack, urging unity and resilience among the people.
The 15 victims were laid to rest in a funeral attended by the Deputy Governor, Commissioner of Police and the Emir.
The incident came on the heels of recent attacks befalling the country, especially the North due to insecurity.

On Friday, two security officials comprising a member of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and one vigilante member, were reported to have lost their lives in an encounter with armed bandits terrorising Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
Five persons also sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.
The hoodlums were said to have launched the attacks at about 2115 hrs (9:15 pm), on Ka’ida, Unguwar One Boy, and Danmarke quarters, all in Jibia Township, Jibia LGA, Katsina State.
The State Police Command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident on Friday in a statement, saying the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
He said, the Command, in collaboration with the military, members of the state community watch corps, and vigilantes, successfully foiled the attacks where, the swift response of the joint security team led by the DPO Jibia repelled the attackers, resulting in a fierce gun duel that lasted for over an hour.
