CAN commiserates with Niger governor over loss of lives in tanker explosion

CAN: We specifically sympathise with the Governor, Suleja Emirate Council and the families of the victims of the tanker explosion

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, has commiserated with the state Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, and Nigerlites over the Saturday morning tanker explosion that claimed no fewer than 100 lives along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, Dikko junction in Niger state.

Niger State CAN Chairman, Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, in a statement prayed that God grant all the dead eternal rest and  grant speedy healing to all the victims nursing injuries in hospital.

The CAN chairman, who is the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, also assured Governor Bago that the Christendom was grieved by the ugly incident, while sharing in their pains especially this trial moments.

His words: “We the Christian community in Niger State are deeply saddened by the Saturday morning devastating incident. We stand with the state government and share in the pains this difficult time.

“To us, the explosion is worrisome, heartbreaking and unfortunate. We specifically sympathise with the Governor, Suleja Emirate Council and the families of the victims of the tanker explosion”.

The cleric, who challenged all road users, motorists in particular, to be more careful to avoid a repeat of such carnage, prayed the Almighty God to grant all those that died eternal rest and quick recovery to the injured in hospitals.

He however commended the state government’s timely response to the emergency by providing support to families of the affected and those still hospitalised.
