The state’s Violence Against Persons Act protects Mrs Chinenye Okonkwo and others in similar circumstances

Anambra State government has assured justice to a widow, Mrs Chinenye Okonkwo, from Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, who was forcefully evicted from her husband’s property by the late husband’s brothers.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo, gave the assurance during her fact-finding visit to Oraifite on Thursday.

The commissioner, who addressed the media after the visit, disclosed that the state’s Violence Against Persons Act protects Mrs Chinenye Okonkwo and others in similar circumstances.
She also met the president of Oraifite Widows Association, Mrs Ogechukwu izuka, and other widows.
