No fewer than two National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have died in an auto crash in Ebonyi State.
They died on their way to orientation camp in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Wednesday January 22, 2025.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Mr Agwu Nwogo, confirmed the incident to the Nigeria News Flight.
He said that the accident, which involved a group of 2024 Batch C Stream 2 Corps members heading to Afikpo Orientation Camp, occurred on Wednesday when an Enugu North Transit bus they boarded ran under a tipper within the Okposi axis, resulting in the loss of four lives, including two Corps members.
He stated that the survivors are now recuperating, and hospital officials are optimistic about their chances of making a full recovery.

Notably, one Corps member escaped without injuries, while the driver sustained severe cervical injuries.
According to Nwogo, 13 victims were rushed to the hospital around 3 pm, thanks to the prompt response of military personnel, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, and other good Samaritans.
“Upon arrival, two victims succumbed to their injuries, two were transferred to the surgical ward, while the others were admitted to the accident and emergency ward,” he said.
Mrs. Olainde Foluke, the NYSC State Coordinator, had earlier led a team to the Chief Medical Director of DUFUTH, in company of the camp commandant, to ascertain the condition of those hospitalized and to appreciate the hospital medical team.
