‘The initiative will serve as a base to address the health issues of rural women, their empowerment and uplifting from poverty’

The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Maudline Nwifuru, has said that her pet project, Better Health For Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation (BERWO), is a call to impact positively and better the lives of the citizens of the state.
Mrs. Nwifuru disclosed this at the unveiling of the foundation’s logo and the launching of a rehabilitation centre for GBV survivors, among other projects at Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.
In her address, Mrs Nwifuru stated that one of her remarkable achievements over the period in office has been improvement in healthcare delivery and accessibility in all parts of the state to better the lives of rural dwellers.
She further disclosed that her office has done a lot in Community Development, Women and Youth Empowerment , Crisis Response and Relief, Cultural Preservation and Heritage, among others.
Mrs Nwifuru also stated that her leadership has already impacted on the state, while attracting honours and awards to her.

Responding, Governor Francis Nwifuru pledged to support the foundation by making life meaningful for rural dwellers and improve the standard of living of the people through this foundation.
Nwifuru added: “The initiative will serve as a base to address the health issues of rural women, their empowerment and uplifting from poverty.”
