A civil rights activist and former President of Performing Muscians Assciation of Nigeria (PMAN), Mr. Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy, and many other Nigerians, have condemned President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, for disrespecting the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, by addressing him as Bitter Obi.
They said such derogatory remark would not be tolerated by Nigerians and indeed the Obidients.
Charly Boy, who is also known as Area Fada 1, in his X handle, @AreaFada1, on Tuesday May 7, 2024, expressed disappointment that Onanuga, a former journalist, descended to a low level of name-calling on the LP chief, Obi.
Charly Boy wondered what went wrong with Onanuga for using the derogatory word on Obi, whom, he said, never sponsored any form of violence against the state or the government.

The PMAN former president warned, “As loyal supporters of Peter Obi, any form of attack on him [Obi] is an absolute attack on well-meaning Nigerians.”
His words: “We are saddened and disappointed at Mr. Bayo Onanuga for addressing HE Peter Obi as Bitter Obi. Such disgusting name-calling on an active and dedicated citizen like HE Peter Obi, who has never sponsored any form of violence against the state or the government is uncalled-for.
“As loyal supporters of HE Peter Obi, any form of attack on HE Peter Obi is an absolute attack on well-meaning Nigerians. Mr. Bayo must refrain from attacking Obi as such will not give Nigerians the needed good governance rather.”
He also advised Bayo Onanuga to focus on the fall of Naira, insecurity, hunger, poverty, corruption ravaging the incompetent government of Tinubu.
Also, Godswill Nwankwo, Don Zaga and Ugowil – all condemned Onanuga’s choice of words in their various X (formerly Twitter).

@Nigerian, said that the Tinubu administration has stopped governing, while employing malicious tactics to sow disunity and instigate division and unrest among people and communities throughout Nigeria.
Don Zaga, via @CollinsZagaa, said: “To be honest, Peter Obi is bittered about the situation of the country.
“No electricity, no water, no fuel, no security, no food. Every reasonable person should be bitter.”
Also, Ugowil through @Ugowil, described Onanuga as a tribalist, who uses the act to achieve his ambition.
His words: “Old crook, Bayo Onanuga, is a tribal bigot, whose politics is based on ethnicity, religion and criminality.
“He played a devilish role in the killings of some Igbo in Lagos during 2023 election and he is at it again.”
