The Cote d’Ivoire Football Association has given Didier Drogba a four-year contract to manage the male national football team, the Elephants.
The former captain of the Elephants and Chelsea legend disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Drogba, who said that he was expected to win the next two Africa Cup of Nations (2024 and 2025) and leading Cote d’Ivoire to win the 2026 World Cup, does not have CAF coaching certificate; but Europe Grade B certificate.
Drogba, who has not managed a thing before, has contacted his former team mate, Yaya Toure, for assistance.

On the task ahead, Drogba stated: “It’s a pleasure for me to be back in Africa and starting my coaching career with my country. I talked with Yaya Touré to join me as an assistant coach and I’m waiting for his decision, maybe he will accept to join me.
