The Senior Magistrate Court Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area (LGA), Niger State, has ordered that two retired judicial officers be remanded in Nigeria Correctional facility for forgery and impersonation.
The accused persons, Danjuma Bawa, a retired staff of Paiko Magistrate Court, and Usman Abdullahi, a retired staff of Minna High Court, all male from Paiko town, were alleged to have issued a fake affidavit to one Moses Mathew of Lugudna area, Paiko, who is also a retired staff of Paikoro LGA.

Moses Matthew, according to the Police FIR negotiated and collected the affidavit which was later discovered to be fake on behalf of his wife, Mrs. Sarah Bahago, and one Mustapha Abdullahi, a headmaster of Butu Primary School on behalf of one Amadu Adamu.
The two other accused persons, according to the police report, used an old stamp of the Magistrate Court, Paiko, to sign and stamp the fake affidavit forms before issuing same to their unsuspecting victims.
All the fake affidavit forms as collected from Usman Abdullahi and Danjuma Bawa, according to the police report, did not serve the purposes for which it was intended to as it was rejected from the banks.
The police report also indicated that the two rejected fake affidavit forms were recovered and attached to the case diary as evidence after the deals were negotiated for at the private homes of the accused persons, respectively.
The accused persons thereafter pleaded not guilty of the charges. The Prosecutor, Inspector Mathew Raymond ordered the Court to deny the accused persons bail as investigations into the case was still in progress to avoid disruption of investigations.
Presiding Magistrate, Abdullahi Bawa, adjourned the case to the 22nd of November 22, 2022.
