Court validates Ebonyi council  elections

‘The Court held that EBSIEC complied with the relevant laws guiding the conduct of elections at the local government levels in Nigeria’

A High Court of Ebonyi State sitting at Ezzangbo in Ohaukwu LGA has validated the conduct of the July 2022 Local Government Elections in Ebonyi State and the swearing in of the elected chairmen, vice Chairmen and ward councillors.

Delivering judgement in a suit instituted by the Attorney-General of Ebonyi State against Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) on the propriety / validity or otherwise of the elections conducted by EBSIEC in 2022, the Court held that EBSIEC complied with the relevant laws guiding the conduct of elections at the local government levels in Nigeria including the 2022 Electoral Act.The Court also held that the subsequent inauguration of the elected officials pursuant.
