Ebonyi State government is set to partner a non-governmental oreganisation (NGO), Transformation for Africa Initiative, for proper supervision of healthcare facilities in the state.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Moses Ekuma, disclosed this in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, when members of Transformation for Africa Initiative paid a courtesy call in his office.
The commissioner, represented by the SA to the Governor on Primary Healthcare, Dr Sabinus Nwibo, said that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has done a lot to revitalize the health sector.
While he announced that the governor had approved the construction of drug production and distribution centre to guard against fake drugs and make them affordable, he mentioned other accomplishment in the health sector such as employment of medical personnel, procurement of medical equipments and consumables, procurement of SUV cars for medical doctors, purchase of ambulances for general hospitals among others.

“Of course, you know that health is meant to stand on three pillars and these three pillars include personnel which is human resource for health and you have structures and equipment. All these things are meant to work together for you to have effective service delivery,” he said.
Ekuma, who described the visit as timely, said that they would work assiduously to create a budget line for integrated supportive supervision but demanded to know the parameter in place or additional effort compared to existing one and other areas in the country where similar things had been done.
Earlier, the Programme Officer, Life Transformation for Africa Initiative, Mr. Ezeani Chimezie, solicited the support of the Ministry and Primary Healthcare Development Agency to improve the healthcare system in the state through Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS).
