Ebonyi Police confirm killing of two security guards by gunmen

‘Two persons were killed at Iboko; and we are still investigating the matter’

Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two men by unknown gunmen in Iboko community in Izzi council of the state on Tuesday February 20, 2024.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, who confirmed the incident, further disclosed that investigation was ongoing to trackdown the suspects.

 His words: “The incident happened on Tuesday. Two persons were killed at Iboko; and we are still investigating the matter.”

Eyewitness told Nigeria News Flight that the attack caused panic in the area on Tuesday.

The source said that the gunmen bought some foodstuffs at the Iboko market after which they fueled their vehicles in the nearby filling station before lunching the attack that killed the two security guards in the area.

The source said that the shooting was so sporadic that everybody fled for safety.

He further disclosed that the victims were Ebubeagu operatives (now called Neighbourhood Vigilante members).
